Landing Zone 1.4.1, remove external Links and switch Background Video to local ressource

scupone » 1 month ago
Hello,

i purchased your theme yesterday, and i am wonder how to change the background video from
googleapi.com to a local version from a self produced one.

i took a short look and found some links to fonts from google in your sourcecodes, that is not okay
to have a DSGVO/GDPR conformity. (https://www.coe.int/de/web/conventions/full-list/-/conventions/rms/0900001680078b37).

To guarantee that my website is conform to european law, i need to remove any links to external websites/services.

could you tell me in which file/line i can find external ressources to switch them to my local server.

especially google services are not possible without tracking my visitors.

Hi,

Welcome and thank you. Did you get my email with questions about e107 version and your github account?

I can't help you with social login, it is core stuff.

About CDN. I suppose you use 1.4.x version for e107 2.3.0

bootstrap and font awesome libraries are loaded from the core, there should be settings to load them locally in core preferencies.

Theme itself uses only fonts external:

in theme.php this:

e107::css('url', 'https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Questrial');

e107::css('url', 'https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Dancing+Script:700');

it is pretty easy to change to local source, so just confirm me you mean this... in fact, I could add this to theme settings, but nobody has asked for this yet. But change is easy, so just let me know. You need to download those fonts locally, correct?

The link to video is in theme preferences, so just insert your path there.

If this is not set, in theme_shortcodes.php is set default path:

$videourl = "https://storage.googleapis.com/coverr-main/mp4/Traffic-blurred2.mp4";

But again, there is the new version for e107 2.3.1 prepared...

Thank you for your really zerotime support.
I did not recieve a email from you, there are some issues with vodafone and their imap service at the moment.

I recently set up my website, so it is the e107 2.3.0 Version and LZ2 is 1.4.1.

yes, i want to guarantee my visitors that they are not tracked by third party services, which is impossible
with fonts and videos served by the big bad G.

so maybe, even if nobody asks before, it was a little change to use a local stored free font and a royality free video stored on the the own host, to keep the website gdpr conform. it is also a possible unique selling point for your Themes that they are conform with european data protection laws :)

so, i will try to get some free fonts and store they local, same for the video.

Thank your for your awesome work, and even more support.

I sent you a private message with my email. I will install 2.3.0 with PHP 7.4 (or what is your PHP version) to see what can be done in this version.

Video URL is absolute, with https...

Do you know how to use google fonts locally?

f.e. https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Questrial?query=Questrial

Are you part of this:

If not, login is good idea.

Done. You should get an invitation to the repo with local font loading.

You can check this (and core settings) with CTRL-U - displays source code and there is no CDN, or external sources now.
